As A Child

As a little child
I liked making mud pies,
and eating playdough.

Sliding down
the slip and slide,
and wearing a cape,
pretending
that I was a superhero.

Casing butterflies
and building box castles,

hide and seek,
and board games.

Using fireflies
as flashlights,
and stirring the clouds
with our finger tips,

while holding our
imaginary friends,
blankets,
and stuffed animals
close.

never wanting to grow
up,
or grow
old.
